In tribute and thanks to the American men and women who have served and defended our great and diverse nation, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition will host veterans and their families for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016.
The free turkey, dressing and all the trimmings dinner is being donated by Gibsons Steakhouse and will be served by celebrity servers at Rainbow PUSH national headquarters, 930 E. 50th Street in Chicago.
The homeless, the lonely and anyone else who needs a hot meal and warm company are also welcome for the Thanksgiving Day event Rainbow PUSH has hosted for the past several years.
Rev. Jackson will don an apron and chef’s hat and serve dinner at 11:30 a.m.
“Those who have served our country,” Rev. Jackson said, “deserve to be served and thanked on this special day and every day.”
