Police candidate training workshop planned for Sept. 16

Indiana University Northwest’s Center for Urban and Regional Excellence (CURE) invites those interested in a career in law enforcement to attend a Police Candidate Training Workshop from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., Saturday, September 16 at IU Northwest.

The workshop will provide those interested in applying for local law enforcement positions with tips and techniques useful in advancing through the hiring process.

Faculty members of IU Northwest’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs will lead participants in sessions aimed at enhancing both test-taking and interview skills, which will be followed by the opportunity to participate in a mock interview conducted by experienced, local law enforcement officials.

Also participating are physical fitness professionals from the Crossroads YMCA who will assist law enforcement volunteers in coaching participants on how they can succeed in reaching the state mandated standards for physical fitness testing.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to speak to representatives from local law enforcement agencies about potential employment opportunities.

Registration and a $10 fee are both required to participate in this workshop. For registration information and instructions, please visit www.iun.edu/cure. Or, call the Crossroads YMCA at (219) 750-1082.
