Peoples Bank makes New Year’s gift to The Salvation Army Lake County

As The Salvation Army Lake County wasted no time kicking off the new year delivering humanitarian services to needy Lake County residents, Peoples Bank quickly stepped up to partner with The Salvation Army to meet some of these needs. January 4, 2019, Peoples Bank employees presented a check for $750 to Kevin Feldman, Director of Development for The Salvation Army Lake County.

“The Christmas season is our busiest time of year for both meeting the needs of adults, children and families in Lake County, and for raising money to support this work,” said Feldman. “But the basic needs of those in the community don’t stop there. Parents will need help in finding jobs, managing their household expenses, feeding and clothing their families, and more. We are thankful for businesses like Peoples Bank for helping the communities in Lake County year round,” Feldman said.

The Salvation Army Lake County provides a number of humanitarian services from its three Corps Community Centers in Munster, East Chicago, and Gary, along with Service Extension programs in southern Lake County. A feeding program, food pantries, counseling, youth activities, homelessness prevention programs, and more are delivered from these Community Centers. The Salvation Army has been serving the less fortunate of Lake County, Indiana since 1920, and assists approximately 140 families a week, and over 2000 individuals per month.
