Smith, Bizzell and Warner Funeral Home is planning the 4th annual Operation Toy Soldier campaign beginning the week of November 27 and ending on December 20. Toy Soldier fill-up barrels are located with various community partners and filled by Secret Santas at each location. Toys are distributed to the children of active and non-active military personnel at the Family Readiness Office of the Indiana National Guard, 113th Engineer Battalion, Gary, Indiana.
Operation Toy Soldier locations for 2017 include, St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago (Debbie Gruszecki); Calumet Township Trustee Kim Robinson, Gary; St. Anthony Village, Crown Point (Angela Moore); St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Gary (Daisie Carter); Capitol City Education Services, Merrillville (Shatio Ballard and Otis Carpenter). Toys may also be brought to Smith, Bizzell and Warner Funeral Home, (Sandi Cogan). All toys must be new and unwrapped.
Active and non-active military personnel will have the opportunity to shop for Christmas toys at the National Guard Armory, 113th Engineer Battalion on a specified date and time, which will be determined by the Family Readiness Coordinator.
