NW Indiana Urban League College Fair

If success can be measured by the total amount of scholarship awards offered at the recent Northwest Indiana Urban League College Fair, then it was a very successful event with over $2 million in offers made.

IMG 0839With standing room only, students turned out for the Urban League’s Annual Scholarship Fair held September 20, 2017. The students in attendance from Lake, Porter and LaPorte numbered well over a 1,000 at any given time during the event.

Workshop Topics touched on a variety of subjects including researching scholarships, the value and importance of community service, being smart with being safe and engagement with law enforcement.

Students were awarded scholarships on site from HBCUs and Indiana schools.

The energy was high all morning; students came prepared and focused on finding opportunities to continue their education beyond high school. Additional scholarship opportunities will be listed on the Urban League website in early January 2018 at www.ulofnwi.org.
