Neighborhood Housing Services Presents: A Fireside Chat with John W. Rogers Jr. of Ariel Investments

Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago (NHS) will host a fireside chat featuring Ariel Investments Founder John W. Rogers Jr., on March 10th as part of the agency’s 2022 Annual Awards program. The annual event recognizes leaders whose work places them at the forefront of efforts to establish racial and financial equity by closing the wealth gap.

This year’s honorees are as follows:

  • John W. Rogers, Jr., Founder, Co-CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Ariel Investments,will receive the Transformative Impact Award. Rogers is a ground-breaking leader in the financial services industry, mentoring and investing in businesses and entrepreneurs, a philanthropist, passionate advocate for corporate diversity, and supporter of financial literacy and education for the Black community.
  • Senator Jacqueline Y. Collins will be honored with the Gale Cincotta Community Visionary Award. Collins is a tireless and fearless advocate for the residents and stakeholder institutions of Chicago’s South Side neighborhoods, including her key role in the passage of the Illinois Community Reinvestment Act and the Predatory Lending interest rate cap.
  • Cecile De Mello,Executive Director at Teamwork Englewood has earned the Community Impact Award. Her smart and comprehensive work to build and support her community in Englewood is nothing short of inspirational—from housing help to food support, to finding resources for returning citizens, she has taken Teamwork Englewood to the next level.
  • This year, NHS will also recognize Excellence in Impact Journalism. Representing their news organizations, WBEZ reporter Linda Lutton, editor Alden Loury and, on behalf of City Bureau, data journalist Andrew Fan,will be honored for their groundbreaking report on lending disparities in the metropolitan Chicagoland area.

This fireside chat will be hosted by NHS President and CEO, Anthony Simpkins, and can be viewed by all who register online. We anticipate a large, diverse audience of industry and civic leaders to join us for the event. The event attracts nearly five-hundred guests representing all segments of NHS’ public, private, and community partnerships.
