The Committee to Re-elect Dr. Vernon G. Smith State Rep-resentative will host a fundraising reception and production in honor of Smith. The event, a Tribute to Natalie Cole is scheduled at the Glen Theater, 20 West Ridge Road in Gary, on Saturday, May 5. The reception will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the stage production featuring Ernie Caldwell as Natalie Cole.
Smith who has served in the Indiana House of Representatives since 1990 is seeking re-election on May 8. Tickets which are $25, $50 and $100 for the event may be purchased at Beautiful Things or by calling 985-8256 or 887-2046.
