The Mission Ministry at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Gary will host a special program segment on Multiple Myeloma in recognition of Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month on Sunday, March 31st at 10:30 a.m. at 1831 Virginia St. in Gary.
The program was developed by Deacon Shirley Carneygee Story-Nelson who is currently battling this rare form of cancer and wants the community to learn more about the advancements in treatment. The guest speakers include Judy Earnshaw- Indiana Development Manager of Phil’s Friends. Phil’s Friends is a non-profit faith – based organization that brings hope and support to cancer patients across the country through the delivery of Care Packages and monthly Cards of Hope.
Chelsea Whittington, who is a lifelong member of Trinity, will provide her experience with the disease. Whittington’s mother, who was also a lifelong member of Trinity, succumbed to Multiple Myeloma in 2001.
