Mr. Alan’s to host grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Chicago’s South Side – Friday, June 1

South Side Chicago’s historic Bronzeville neighborhood will officially become home to a new retail store this weekend. The Black Metropolis will celebrate Mr. Alan’s arrival with a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 3pm to 7pm at 4700 South Cottage Grove. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place 4pm to 5pm.

Power 92 will provide a live soundtrack for the event with DJ R Dubb and DJ Nehpets selected tunes from 3-7PM, and guests will enjoy food to include the Jerk Taco Man food truck and cake/cupcakes from community bakers. Since Mr. Alan’s is not your typical retailer, the store will share its Grand Opening with the release of the new Jordan Shadow 1 and Jordan Retro 11 sneakers.

Mr. Alan’s has provided authentic premium apparel and shoe products to men, women and kids around the Metro Detroit community since 1974. This location will represent Mr. Alan’s 6th store in the Chicago area. The Mr. Alan’s brand is growing throughout the mid-west.

“Mr. Alan’s is excited to bring not only its products, but its superior customer service and dedication to community involvement to Chicago as part of this expansion,” says Jacob Bishop, Co-CEO of Mr. Alan’s.“Community involvement is at the core of our culture. We’re passionate and committed to enriching the lives of the communities around us by giving back and making sure our kids have a future that’s healthy and bright!”

“We welcome Mr. Alan’s to the Quad Comunities of Bronzeville. Mr. Alan’s will be a great addition to the nationally recognized Shops and Lofts development, where the commercial tenants represent a mix of locally owned and minority-led businesses, national chains, and Midwest-regional providers, says Rhonda McFarland, Executive Director of the Quad Communities Development Corporation (QCDC). “This opening is another example of Quad Communities Development Corporation’s work promoting economic inclusion and diversity of amenities within our commercial corridors and the power of partnerships.”

Bronzeville’s 20th century resurgence rivaled the Harlem Renaissance, and is responsible for tremendous cultural and social advances. Mr. Alan’s commitment to enriching the lives of the communities it serves is sure to make the store a perfect fit for the robust neighborhood it will now be a part of.

“The 4th Ward welcomes Mr. Alan’s to the 47th and Cottage Grove Retail Corridor.  Mr. Alan’s is joining a strong group of retail and service providers in the Shops and Lofts at 47th development, which is an important anchor in this business district,” says Alderman Sophia D. King, 4th Ward. “With a community-focused business model, Mr. Alan is in harmony with the Quad Communities’ business attraction and retention mission. As Alderman, I look forward to working with Mr. Alan’s and wish them success.”

All are invited to join the Bronzeville community in welcoming the dynamic and innovative Mr. Alan’s to the Shops and Lofts Shopping Center.
