Look—beyond what you already see. When was the last time you looked beyond your natural ability or sight? It’s human nature to look at things on the surface or just the periphery. This weekend, I watch Oprah during her Super Soul sessions talk about shedding light on her weight loss journey. However, she mentioned that before the process could honestly begin she had to look at herself naked in the mirror from head to toe. What she saw was visible only through what she stated as her ‘third eye.’ What Oprah did was simply look past the physical state of her body into the spiritual realm of her soul. Then and only was she able to unpack the pounds of being weighed down.
What does it all mean? ‘There has to be more to life than this’ are rhetorical questions that lead many to the quest to dig digger. Those queries are shadows of things to come. It’s much easier than it sounds. To look beyond what you see is not so simple. It really is frightening to step into the deep end of unchartered territory. The fear of the unknown exists. You don’t know what might be discovered or uncovered. Courage, determination and patience are the attributes needed to confront long lost issues covered by childhood memories and fears. Whether it’s weight loss, un-forgiveness, depression or whatever concern—we must face it head on. When you are ready—whatever you need to confront your fears will appear.
As we listen and look within and beyond, we will find internal and external peace in our immediate surrounding. This is where God and truth abides. This is a place of peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Oprah jokingly shared that her journey is not over. For many it has only begun. Be patient, it may take time before you reach that destination, but enjoy the journey. Hopefully each step of enlightenment is filled with the joy of knowing by faith you’ve already reached higher ground. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
Until you look within…you will forever be without. Let’s go within and beyond the surface. Do it now. Stare it dead in the face to examine why it exists or it will forever persist. Push through the reality shows, work, family, friends, social media and the distractions that halt the journey to the secret world of power. Go deeper and let the voice within guide you to your truth. The sooner you zero in and focus on your calling—your life won’t be perfect but it will be more fulfilling. You will see truth, hope, righteousness and triumphs waiting to be unleashed when you look beyond what you see.
Look—what do you really see…?
