Melton speaks at National Urban League Conference in Indianapolis

Last week, State Senator Eddie Melton, who has formed an exploratory committee for governor, spoke at the National Urban League Conference held in Indianapolis.

In attendance at the conference were multiple presidential candidates including former Vice President Joe Biden, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and U.S. Senator Kamala Harris.

Sen. Melton joined a panel of national experts on education to talk about social and emotional learning for children as well as equity in education.

“I was grateful for the opportunity to share my experience as a state legislator in Indiana and the efforts I’ve made to improve education for Hoosiers,” Sen. Melton said. “I was humbled to discuss one of my first bills that I passed as a freshman senator which provided additional resources for students who were classified as having a developmental delay.”

After the panel discussion, Sen. Melton sat down with Senator Harris for a conversation surrounding the California senator’s presidential efforts and Indiana’s likely strategic role in the 2020 election.
