MDwise to provide backpacks to Gary students on Aug. 17

The cost of school supplies can cause stress in Gary households. For that reason, MDwise is donating drawstring backpacks full of school supplies for students at a back-to-school event at IU Northwest, Lot# 9, 3330 Broadway in Gary on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We recognize that proper school supplies often aren’t easily accessible to all students, but are pertinent to educational success,” said Nicki Gilbert, outreach supervisor at MDwise. “This program helps ensure young Hoosier students have the tools they need to thrive and grow in the classroom, and beyond.”

Tools for Schools is part of a MDwise program that promotes the well-being of Hoosier children through activities and outreach. The MDwise community outreach team works with local organizations to identify students’ needs, and then MDwise provides and coordinates delivery of needed supplies.
