The eighth season premiere of “UNDERCOVER BOSS” on CBS television will present Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson as she takes on jobs of city employees.
The show filmed during the summer of 2016 in the city, will show Freeman-Wilson working undercover with a sanitation employee, a firefighter, a police officer and a beach maintenance crew member.
Mark your calendar! Set your alarm! “UNDERCOVER BOSS” will air Wednesday, December 21, 2016 on CBS television. The two-hour premiere will feature the Mayor of Gary, Indiana during the second half of the show at 8:00 p.m. CST. Also, all are invited to a Watch Party will be held during the show broadcast time at the Genesis Center.
Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson says, “What an awesome, grueling experience! I truly gained a new respect for those working in other areas of city service. It took some time when approached by UNDERCOVER BOSS to make the decision to do the show because I knew it would be a challenge. I accepted the challenge as an opportunity to gain firsthand experience of the work of our employees. The idea was actually something that had come to mind before. The opportunity to do UNDERCOVER BOSS came at the right time.”
Freeman-Wilson continued, “The employees of the city of Gary are hard, dedicated workers often without all they need to get the job done. They are to be commended”.
Freeman-Wilson is no stranger to hard work. This summer she participated in an exercise in the USCM Fire Ops 101 for Mayors during the USCM Conference in Indianapolis. The Mayor said her experience as a firefighter for a day provided a new perspective on what it takes to do a firefighters’ job.
The Mayor’s grass cutting program where Mayor Freeman-Wilson cuts grass on vacant lots each week during the summer has continued throughout her time as Mayor of Gary.
