Macy’s Welcomes Bulls Rookie Wendell Carter Jr. and Horace Grant

By Anesia Byrdwell

Tissot is the official watch of the Chicago Bulls and what better way to celebrate the brand than a meet and greet with Chicago Bulls rookie Wendell Carter Jr. and Bulls legend Horace Grant. On Saturday, October 13, Macy’s at Water Tower Place hosted a launch event for the new Chicago Bulls Tissot watch. Carter and Grant celebrated at the event with fans.

Fans started to line up when the Water Tower shopping mall opened at 10 a. m. on a beautiful Saturday morning. The meet and greet was scheduled to start at 2:30, but eager fans who couldn’t wait began to wrap around the store forming in long lines as soon as Macy’s doors opened.  The first 25 lucky fans to purchase the $350+ Tissot Chrono XL Chicago Bulls watch received two Bulls tickets to the November 12, 2018 Bulls versus Mavericks game, and a VIP event access pass for the meet and greet.

During the VIP access the fans got to meet with the players, mingle with the Luvabull cheerleaders, and have fun with Benny the Bull.  There were also free giveaways where Grant and Carter picked a few excited fans out of the audience to receive Chicago Bulls tickets as a surprise gift.

More than 300 fans waited over four hours in lines that reminded you of an amusement park in order to catch a glimpse of the newest Chicago Bulls rookie, Carter, and Horace Grant. Once the fans reached the front of the line they were warmly greeted by each of the athletes and posed for a picture with the two. After the pictures were taken they had a brief opportunity to talk to the players and get their signed autographed photo of both players.

The Chicago Crusader met with the Bulls’ newest rookie during one of his breaks from meeting fans. Carter was cordial and answered questions with confidence and a maturity that is not often seen in young NBA players.

CRUSADER: Could you lead the Bulls to the playoffs?

CARTER: Possibly, I’m going to do everything in my power to do that, so I’m going to say yes!

CRUSADER: Which athlete do you personally look up to?

CARTER: Anthony Davis

CRUSADER: Would you like to partner with Macy’s for future opportunities:

CARTER: Of course, you know I’m here now for the official launch party for the Tissot partnership with the Bulls so it’s an exciting moment for me.

CRUSADER: How does it feel to play for the same team as some of the greats like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen? (Horace Grant interrupts the interview to mention his name with the greats

CARTER: It’s a great feeling of course, being able to follow in a lot of great athletes’ footsteps. Living up to a lot of expectations.

CRUSADER: How does it feel to be 19 and in the NBA?

CARTER: It’s kind of surreal, still you know just to be this young and a lot of my friends are still in college while I’m in a multi-million dollar company playing the game that I love. I never take anything for granted and I really appreciate that I’m here.

CRUSADER: One last question. Do you think that you will make the All Rookie team?

CARTER: Yea, that’s what I’m shooting for. I want to be the Rookie of the Year, that’s what I’m going for. The Rookie is definitely something that I’m striving for.
