Legacy Foundation Grants deadline approaches

Local not-for-profit agencies seeking funding for programs and services in Lake County, Indiana, should not miss this grant opportunity from the Legacy Foundation. November 1 is the deadline to apply for a Transform Lake County or Thriving Hobart Seniors grant.  The Foundation awards annually approximately $800,000 from the two funds.

Transform Lake County grants are funded through the Foundation’s Lake County Community Fund. Through this fund, Legacy Foundation supports not-for-profit organizations providing services to Lake County families and individuals in the areas of arts and culture, community development, education, environment and animal welfare, health and human services.

Thriving Hobart Seniors grants are funded by the Maria Reiner Senior Citizen’s Fund. This fund supports organizations that enhance the quality of life for senior citizens in Hobart, Ind. On December 10, 1996, Maria Reiner’s estate was placed with Legacy Foundation as a permanent fund to benefit Hobart senior citizens. Because of this enduring gift, her wish of supporting seniors in the city where she lived will carry on forever. Twenty years later her fund has distributed $964,000 to over 20 different organizations that give Hobart seniors a thriving life.

The Transform Lake County grant application opens three times per year: March 1, June 1, and October 1. The application deadline is one month following the open date. Funds for Thriving Hobart Seniors grants are available once per year, in the October 1 to November 1 cycle.
