Lamar Odom To Play In His First Pro Basketball Game In Five Years

By J’na Jefferson, Vibe

“I hope to be as explosive as I used to be.”

After a tumultuous few years away from basketball, it looks like Lamar Odom is ready for his big comeback.

The former Los Angeles Laker and Clippers player announced via Instagram that he will be returning to professional basketball as a member of a team representing the Philippines. The game will be the Dubai International Basketball Championship early next year. This will be his first professional game since 2013.

“It’s been a minute since I’ve professionally competed and I hope to be as explosive as I used to be,” the eager 39-year-old wrote on the social media site, accompanying a photo of him in a number 7 jersey for the Philippines team.

Odom, a two-time NBA champ, also notes in the post that he was hoping to be ready to play for the Chinese Basketball Association, but recovery from multiple strokes and heart attacks associated with a near-fatal drug overdose in 2015 put the goal on the back burner.

“Im not giving up and going in full force !! Patience and moving FORWARD is KEY!” he continued before thanking his team, family and fans for their undying support.

Good luck, Mr. Odom, and congrats on your continued recovery.
