Lake County elections on Tuesday

First District Lake County Commissioner Kyle Allen has announced his official endorsement of Mike A. Brown for Lake County Sheriff. Releasing a brief video statement, Commissioner Allen shares why he is supporting Mike Brown and is urging Lake County residents to support the candidate for sheriff.

“I am asking residents to join me in supporting and voting for Mike Brown as the next Lake County Sheriff,” said Commissioner Allen. “Mike has a long-term and polished track record serving as a Lake County public official. He is the only candidate in the race officially elected by the residents to serve them.”

Brown has also received an endorsement from Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, who’s asking voters to support Brown because of his 24 years in county government, including 14 years as clerk of the courts and county recorder.

She wrote, “He has worked hard to ensure that county government has been responsive. I believe he will do the same as Lake County Sheriff. Mike understands the sheriff’s office needs an administrator.”

Mike Brown currently serves as the Clerk for the Lake County Circuit and Superior Courts. He has been in county government for more than 14 years, first serving as Lake County Recorder for two terms and again serving two terms as Lake County Clerk. Mike has more than 24 years as a Lake County employee.

“I want to thank Lake County Commissioner Kyle Allen for his endorsement and continuous support,” said Mike Brown, Clerk, Lake County Circuit and Superior Courts. “Kyle is highly respected as a public official throughout Lake County and I really appreciate that one of the top officials of our county sees the value in my leadership and my ability to be a great administrator over the Lake County Sheriff Department.”

Commissioner Allen is running against several opponents to retain his seat as First District Lake County Commissioner.

In another race, former Gary Mayor Thomas V. Barnes has endorsed Attorney McArthur Drake for the Calumet Township Board in the Democratic Primary election.
