LA Fitness says that three of its employees are no longer with the company after an African American man claimed he and a friend were racially profiled at one of the chain’s clubs.
In an emailed statement, the California-based Fitness International confirmed “that the three employees most closely involved in the incident are no longer with us.”
Tshyrad Oates posted four videos on Facebook Monday that showed moments of an encounter at an LA Fitness club in Secaucus, N.J., that have been shared over 57,000 times. In a lengthy message, Oates accused staffers of falsely accusing him and a friend who was a club member of not paying to work out, and then calling the police.
