Kenwood earns huge win against Brooks but falls short at Chicago Elite Classic

The Kenwood Broncos boy’s basketball team went 1-1 over the weekend after earning a 55-50 victory over Brooks College Prep on Friday night December 6, at Brooks and a 49-48 loss to Lincoln Park on Saturday December 7, at the 8th Annual Chicago Elite Classic.

In their first game against Brooks College Prep, the Broncos were led by the hot shooting of forward Darnell King.

King, who recently had a 36 point outburst against Corliss last weekend, scored eight of his game high 18 points in the first quarter, despite trailing 20-17 in the first half. Brooks was led by senior guard Milan Williams, who finished with 10 points.

In the second half, King and the Broncos offense outscored Brooks 38-35 to close out the game enroute to their third victory of the season.

Final Score: Kenwood 55, Brooks 50.

Game two for the Broncos took place at the 8th Annual 2019 Chicago Elite Classic. The Broncos fell short of their fourth win of the season with a 49-48 loss to Lincoln Park on Saturday December 7, at Wintrust Arena.

In spite of the Broncos outscoring Lincoln Park 18-12 in the 3rd quarter, they would surrender the lead in the closing seconds of the game.

Darnell King’s game high 23 points was not enough for Lincoln Park’s 1-2 punch of guard Ismail Habib and center Romel Howard, who both finished with 17.

Final score: Lincoln Park 49, Kenwood 48.
