Katie Hall Foundation leaders interviewed by USA Today

Katie Hall Educational Foundation, Inc. Chairman and CEO Junifer Hall has been interviewed for the upcoming 129-page Special Edition produced by USA Today newspaper to be published on January 29, 2018.

The newspaper will commemorate the 2018 milestone events related to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Beginning in April 2018, the nation and world will remember the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King’s shocking and tragic assassination in Memphis (Tennessee). In June, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Non-violent Social Change also known as The King Center in Atlanta, Georgia will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of its founding by Coretta Scott King, the widow of Dr. King.

Then on November 2, the United States of America and world will observe the 35th Anniversary of the signing of H.R. 3706, commonly known as the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday Law, which was authored and sponsored by former U.S. Representative Katie Hall (D-IN). The King Bill was signed by Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States of America on November 2, 1983, in the Rose Garden, The White House in Washington, D.C.

Dr. King is the only African-American to be honored with a national holiday in American history. In the soon to be published USA Today news article, Hall discusses some of the major challenges overcome by Former U.S. Representative Katie Hall in gaining Congressional and public support for her version of “The King Bill,” which would designate the third Monday in January as a national holiday in honor of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Moreover, Chairman and CEO Hall shares memories of Katie Hall’s reflections on the mood inside The White House immediately prior to, and after President Reagan signed the historic piece of federal legislation that forever changed American democracy and democracy around the world. The relevancy of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday Law Observance in the present and future is discussed as well.
