Daytime Emmy-nominated Actress and Comedian Kym Whitley to Sign Her First Novel “The Delusion of Cinderella” at Gary Restaurant
Gary’s favorite breakfast spot will mark its 3rd Anniversary with a book signing featuring actress and comedian Kym Whitley, Saturday, September 29th from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at 3669 Broadway. “The Delusion of Cinderella,” Whitley’s first novel, chronicles a young college student’s obsession with one lover and how it drives her down a dangerous and destructive path from self-loathing toward a path of becoming a woman who learns that true love is self-love.
J’s Breakfast Club owner Joslyn Kelly expressed her delight and surprise at Whitley’s participation in the marking of her restaurant’s milestone.
“I was planning to do some food specials and live entertainment for the weekend when out of the blue, Kym’s representative, who happens to be from Gary, contacted me to see if a book signing would be possible,” said Kelly. “I am thankful for Taroue Brooks for making the offer, and this event will surely make our 3rd anniversary celebration unforgettable.”
Kelly shared that signature dishes will also be featured throughout the anniversary weekend including catfish and spaghetti dinners on Friday September 28th, $2 Fried Green Tomatoes on Saturday, September 29th and meatloaf and mashed potatoes on Sunday, September 30th. The Artis Timberlake Trio will also perform Sunday from 2pm – 4pm.
“We just wanted to do something special to show our appreciation to our loyal customers and hopefully attract new ones,” said Kelly. “Kym Whitley’s appearance is truly the icing on the cake, especially since we are both members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.”
Whitley began living her dream as a standup comedian in Hollywood and became Hollywood’s go-to-girl with her smooth transition as a talented, comedic actress in numerous TV shows, namely, ABC’s “My Wife and Kids,” CBS’s “Two Broke Girls,” Disney’s “That’s So Raven,” TV Land’s “Soul Man” and HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Whitley is currently in the new season of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and appears on the radio Tuesday and Thursday with Sherri Shepherd from 6 a.m.-9 a.m. on the nationally syndicated “Tom Joyner Morning Show.”
