Jay Z aims to get young Black voters to the polls with concert for Hillary Clinton

By Sydney Scott, essence.com

Jay Z is set to perform a concert in Cleveland to encourage Black young voters to hit the polls and tip the state of Ohio from Trump to Clinton.

According to BuzzFeed, a date hasn’t been confirmed, but a Clinton aide confirmed the concert’s location. Jay Z and Beyoncé have long been supporters of Clinton, with Bill Clinton even making an appearance at Hov’s Made In America Festival.

Jay has also been outspoken on a number of important issues, including police brutality, the decriminalization of marijuana, and the killings of unarmed Black men.

BuzzFeed adds that Clinton indicated staff should do everything possible to get the votes of young Black Americans, and the concert is one such effort.

A source familiar with the concert also added there is a chance that Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James will make an appearance. James endorsed Clinton earlier this year.

Clinton has a number of concerts planned, including one with Jennifer Lopez on October 29 in Miami, Florida, aimed at Latino voters. If Clinton can get young voters to hit the polls, Trump’s chances of winning the presidency would take a significant hit.
