IUNW to host free Dental Education Camp for teens

High school students can learn about careers in dental assisting, dental hygiene and dental laboratory technology

Indiana University Northwest invites high school students to explore careers in dental education at a free camp from 1 to 5 p.m., Friday, June 21 in the region’s only onsite Dental Education Clinic and laboratory.

Teens will tour the facility located in the campus’s Dunes Medical and Professional Building, and meet dental education faculty, staff and students. They will learn about each of the different dental education careers, such as hygienist, assistant and laboratory technician.

Students will use dental mannequins to practice taking impressions, polishing and flossing teeth, taking x-rays and using an intraoral camera. They will learn about oral diseases and mouth abnormalities, as well as how to interpret dental radiographs and how the acidity of bottled water can affect one’s oral health.

Space is limited. To register, visit iun.edu/dentalcamp.
