State Rep. Vernon G. Smith (D-Gary) said the State Budget Committee gave its approval for renovations to the Anderson Library/Conference Center on the Indiana University Northwest Campus.

The committee’s approval for the $6 M project came during a meeting on the University of Southern Indiana campus in Evansville. Money for the project was appropriated in the 2017 biennial state budget.

The project will include the replacement of the aging mechanical system and controls. In addition, interior renovation will be necessary from this work, like repair and replacement of bulkheads and ceilings.

“I am pleased the State Budget Committee approved the release of the appropriated money so the project can get underway,” said Dr. Smith. “It is important to update the buildings on the IU Northwest campus, so they may better serve the student population and their academic needs.”
