Building A Better Chicago – Mission Possible

The Imani Pearls Community Development Foundation (IPCDF), in conjunction with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Chi Omega Omega Chapter invites the public to attend their annual MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

This year’s event will be held at the Kenwood Academy High School, 5015 S. Blackstone Ave. in Chicago. The theme is “Building a Better Chicago – Mission Possible: ‘Becoming’ Activists, Knowledgeable and Aware.”

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s perpetual call of non-violence, students attending selected Chicagoland schools in grades 7 through 12 have been invited to attend this transformative event designed to empower and strengthen the community. Students will participate in small group workshops discussing and focusing on topics surrounding “Becoming” Activists, Knowledgeable and Aware.

Servicing the Bronzeville, Douglas, Englewood, Grand Boulevard, Hyde Park, Kenwood, Oakland, and Wash- ington Park communities, IPCDF believes that the youth hold the key to positive change in these areas. The mission of the organization is to empower the youth through investment in education, exposure, and time. By encouraging students to become forces of positive change in the community, the quality of life is enhanced for everyone, thus BUILDING A BETTER CHICAGO!!!
