It’s a girl! After 15 hours of labor, first-time Mom Kiara Cox gave birth to 7-pound, 1-ounce baby, Treasure Jasmin, at 1:04 a.m. January 1, in the Advocate South Suburban Hospital’s Women and Infants Center, 17800 Kedzie Ave., in Hazel Crest, Illinois.
Little Treasure is the first baby born at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in 2019.
Cox, a Hazel Crest resident, delivered one week earlier than expected, under the care of Dr. Edgar Del Castillo, who practices obstetrics and gynecology at South Suburban Hospital. Treasure’s father, first-time Dad Gregory Ellis of Waukegan, was by Cox’s side.
“Labor seemed like a lifetime,” new Mom Cox says. But her new Treasure, measuring 20 inches, is worth every minute.
To celebrate her much-anticipated arrival, Advocate South Suburban nurses presented their first New Year’s baby with a gift basket filled cutesy, cuddly toys and baby essentials.
