Harlem Nights 2016 with Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson

The Mayor’s 2016 Gala will “call-up” history for some and memories for others of the historical roaring 20’s era; when the Friends of Karen Freeman-Wilson present “Harlem Nights” on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Genesis Convention Center.

Planning is well underway for the “Harlem Nights” Gala with Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, the Great Gatsby inspired event everyone will be talking about.

The Black Tie Gala will present an elegant vintage décor taken from the 1920’s and 30’s and will feature delicious cuisine and some of the best in jazz music. The presentation of “Harlem Nights” will kick off with a Cocktail Hour at 6:30 p.m.; the Gala at 7:30 p.m. Live entertainment will showcase Gary’s own legendary Billy Foster Trio and musician and vocalist Ernie Shelby known as “Lady Sax.” Both the Foster Trio and “Lady Sax” have performed throughout Gary and Northwest Indiana, Chicagoland and across the nation. The artists’ performances will revisit Jazz style music that influenced “all aspects of society” during its time.
