Hammond NAACP Branch To Host Freedom Fund Luncheon

The NAACP Hammond Branch will host its 2019 Freedom Fund Luncheon Saturday, September 14 at the Dynasty Banquet Hall, 4141 Calumet Avenue, in Hammond. The NAACP Hammond Branch is a catalyst in promoting improvements to increase opportunity for all people. The Hammond Branch continues to work with every community segment to remove barriers for a better quality of life.

The Honorable Jerome Prince, Lake County Assessor and the first African American county assessor in Indiana, will be the guest speaker.

Outstanding community members and community leaders will be honored, notably Jake Jacobs, owner of CR Publications, and the Ministerial Alliance of Hammond.

The community and supporters throughout the Region are invited to attend. The donation is $50 per person. The purchase of an ad in the program book and becoming a Freedom Sponsor are additional options to support the NAACP Hammond Branch’s mission. The Branch’s theme for 2019, “When We Fight We Win,” a reminder that NAACP victories have been a powerful tool that shaped the country and freed democracy. The afternoon’s entertainment will include the saxophone genius of Lady Sax, music legend Billy Shelton, and the Spaniels.

Proceeds enable the Branch to continue to advocate for civil rights and provide youth scholarships. Contact Reverend Homer Cobb, Branch president with questions at (219) 670-0883 and at [email protected].
