GHCS’ 34th annual Christmas Dinner Concert – Dec 11

The public is cordially invited to the 34th annual “Christmas Dinner Concert, featuring The Gary Civic Symphony Orchestra, local and area soloists and choirs, and a delicious holiday dinner on Monday, December 11, 2017 starting at 6:15 p.m. at the Genesis Convention Center, 5th and Broadway in downtown Gary.

The Gary Civic Symphony Orchestra will perform Christmas holiday favorites from “Handel” to “Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer” under the expert baton of Michael Carson, a well-known musician, educator and composer in Gary and northwest Indiana. Local, NWI and out-of-state choirs and singers are invited this year to sing with the Symphony selections from “Handel’s Messiah.” Call 219-902-0524 for rehearsal information.

The Christmas Carol “Sing-Along” develops the whole audience into an “instant choir,” and is another favorite of the evening. The concert ends with anyone who wants to sing Handel’s “Halleluiah Chorus” with the Symphony and choirs.

Then enjoy the delicious dinner prepared by the capable Genesis Center staff, while enjoying the Gary History Raffle, and community vendors. A cash bar is also available. It is no wonder that this program is called our “Season’s Opener.”

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 per adult, or $45 each in a group table of 10 paid in advance, $25 for youth 18 and under, or $25/dinner if you are singing selections from “The Messiah” with the Symphony, inquire. Reserved or delivered tickets are to be paid by Dec. 4. Tickets may be purchased from The Genesis Center (219-882-5505), or by calling/texting The Gary Historical and Cultural Society, Inc. Vendor spaces and table are $35 for local Gary vendors, and $50 for NWI or other area vendors. Vendor reservations and program booklet ads are due December 4. Ad prices are $100 (full page), $50 (half page), $25 (quarter page), $20 business card, and $5 for patron names. Sponsors are always welcomed.
