The City of Gary, Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson and the Gary Common Council will present the city’s Annual Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway and Celebration on Monday, November 25, 2019. The Thanksgiving giveaway is presented each year to provide Gary families who apply, a wholesome meal on the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Applications for the Thanksgiving Baskets will be available to Gary residents Tuesday, October 22 through Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Applications may be completed at City Hall, 401 Broadway, 2nd floor from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Applications must be completed on site.
Those applying must have three (3) pieces of information available when completing the application: Proof of residency-A Photo ID; a utility bill with matching address; and a statement of income. All applications must be received in the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services at City Hall on or before the November 8th deadline.
The celebration and giveaway on Monday, November 25th will be held at the Genesis Convention Center/Indiana Hall, One Genesis Center Plaza. The Food Baskets will be distributed from 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. to those having applied during the application period. Doors open at 4:00 p.m.
