Gary public art competition looking for artists…nears deadline

With the support of the Legacy Foundation through the Knight Donor Advised Fund, the City of Gary is looking for Gary residents who are artists and those of the Northwest Indiana region to participate in the Gary Public Art Competition. The competition encourages artists to take on the challenge of creating a work of art in a public space within the city.

The public art project aims to create beautiful gathering spaces and to enhance the overall environment. The project may also be a catalyst for creating a new landmark and/or neighborhood gateway.

Art projects may be multi-disciplinary, multi-media, and or collaborative. They may involve movement, sound, light, technology, and or be multi-sensory as long as projects do not impose a safety risk to the public. Projects also must be in compliance with city permit processes and ordinances.

Interested artists willing to take on the challenge may apply via: http://legacyfdn.org/publicart.php. All pertinent information such as categories, requirements, eligibility and selection process can also be found on this site.

The Deadline for Artists’ Submissions of Qualifications

Qualifications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 to https://legacyfdngrants.communityforce.com.
