Gary Native and Champion Breast Cancer Survivor Drives Healing and Awareness with Free Concert

Gary native Nikia Hammonds-Blakely and the Champion Promise Foundation will present “Heal Our Land: A Promise to Spread Love” free concert event at 6 p.m., Saturday, October 29 at Miracle Temple C.O.G.I.C., 4709 E. 13th Avenue.

“Heal Our Land” is an unplugged worship event designed to spread messages of healing, forgiveness and social equality to all. Along with the concert, they will present gifts and support to law enforcement and social activist groups.

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, during the event there will be free mobile mammography services available.

Nikia Hammonds-Blakely, 38, is a 22-year breast cancer survivor who discovered a lump in her breast when she was 16. Winning the fight against breast cancer has moved Nikia to share her story nationally and internationally. She is author of her memoir, “The Fight: Chronicles of a Champion” and released a single, “Champion.”
