Gary Micro-Enterprise Initiative offers “New Business Workshop”

The Gary Micro-Enterprise Initiative (GMI) will offer another round of free new business classes for entrepreneurs and for those thinking of starting a new business venture.

The GMI workshop starts today, January 23, and will present an 8 week course where entrepreneurs will learn valuable skills such as business plan development, business finances, identifying target markets and creating business names. Classes will begin January 23 and be held through March 27 every Monday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Arthouse: A Social Kitchen, located at 411 East 5th Avenue in Gary, IN.

Residents have until February 17 to register online at Eventbright: Gary Micro-Enterprise Initiative (GMI) New Business Start. GMI held a graduation last November where 13 graduates of the program were awarded certificates by Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson.

GMI is a free program for residents and existing business owners within the city of Gary who are interested in starting and expanding a small business. GMI mission is to increase employment opportunities and to achieve entrepreneurial growth in Gary through micro-enterprise development.
