Gary local foods, local places workshops planned

In 2015, Gary was one of 26 cities selected to receive technical assistance from the federal Local Food, Local Places initiative. The purpose of the grant is to assist the city in enhancing the quality of life through the local foods economy in the Gary community.

Gary Residents, Businesses, & Community Stakeholders interested in participating in Gary’s efforts for a more livable, healthy, vibrant community through building and strengthening its local economy are invited to join fellow community members on Monday-Tuesday, August 15 & 16, 2016 at Ivy Tech Community College, 1440 E. 35th Avenue for a shared planning process on local foods and community. The session on the 15th is 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.; sessions on the 16th, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 and 1:30 – 5:00 p.m.

This two-day workshop is part of the 2016 Local Foods, Local Places initiative of the EPA and is free and open to the public.
