The Gary Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, is proud to present the annual Founders’ Day Celebration, marking 102 years of sisterhood, scholarship and service on Saturday, March 19 at 12:00 p.m. at Saints Helen and Constantine Greek Orthodox Hall, 8000 Madison Street, Merrillville, IN 46410.
“We are proud of the history of our beloved Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and pride ourselves on living up to an outstanding legacy,” said Arlene Mitchell Pearson, GAC President. “It is that legacy that drives us to remain staunchly committed to work diligently in developing and supporting initiatives that reach, respect and positively impact the NWI community.
This year’s keynote speaker is actress, author, philanthropist and radio talk show host, Sheryl Lee Ralph. Ralph will bring emphasis on the theme, ‘That is Not How the Story Ended,’ and will share how the work as an organization and as individuals is far from complete. The Sorority has a rich history in helping to effect change, from the 22 founding members’ vigilant act of participating in the Women’s Suffrage March of 1913 to the groundbreaking support that led to the nomination and confirmation of the U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
The Founder’s Day Luncheon is open to the public. Tickets are $65 and available at Event Brite at http://bit.ly/1PEYv51 or by calling 219.796.6912. Limited corporate sponsorships and tables available.
Proceeds raised will benefit the Gary Alumnae Chapter Scholarship Fund for deserving college-bound students.
