Funeral draws to a close for Chicago Police Officer Samuel Jimenez

Funeral services for Dr. Tamara O’Neal will be held this week. She was among three people who were killed in a mass shooting in Chicago last week.

Visitation for O’Neal will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 30, at Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Indiana.

O’Neal’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. the next day, Saturday, December 1 at First Church of God, 2020 E. Lincolnway, LaPorte. A second visitation at 10 a.m. will be held prior to the funeral. O’Neal will be buried at Pine Lake Cemetery, 1367 Pine Lake Rd., LaPorte.

O’Neal was shot to death November 19 in front of Mercy Hospital & Medical Center by her former fiancé, Juan Lopez, who wanted O’Neal to return the engagement ring. O’Neal had called off the engagement weeks before she was to marry Lopez.

According to reports, Lopez had a history of domestic violence.

After shooting O’Neal, Lopez ran inside the hospital where he shot Dayna Less, a pharmacist and Chicago Police Officer Samuel Jimenez. O’Neal, Less and Jimenez later died from their injuries. Lopez also died, but it remains unclear who shot him.

Funeral services for Less and Jimenez are being held on Monday, November 26 at separate sites.

Less’ funeral will be at 9 a.m. at St. Archangel Michael Church, 1500-186th St., Lansing, Illinois. She will be buried at St. Sava Monastery, 32377 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, Illinois, immediately after the service.

The funeral for Officer Jimenez will be at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Saint Joseph at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe,1170 N. River Rd., Des Plaines.
