Friend Family Health Center to celebrate grand opening of Woodlawn Health Center

Friday, July 8, a new medical campus that will bring more than 250 jobs and serve over 35,000 patients annually  

Friend Family Health Center (Friend Health), Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot, Congressman Bobby Rush, Alderwoman Jeanette B. Taylor and others will gather on Friday, July 8, at 6250 S. Cottage Grove, to celebrate the grand opening of the Woodlawn Health Center.  The grand opening event of the facility, which will provide the Woodlawn community with critical physical, behavioral and dental health services, will include a ribbon cutting ceremony and feature remarks from Friend Health leadership, Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot and community partners; tours of the facility; and coffee and refreshments provided by Southside Grinds, a local, Black- and woman-owned coffee business based out of Bronzeville.

Additionally, from 1 – 3 p.m., the center will be open to the community and provide free services and giveaways, including health screenings, goodie bags, COVID-19 vaccines, boosters and more.

Located at 63rd Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, the approximately $43 million, two-phased medical campus, is located within a Medically Underserved Area as defined by Health Resources and Services Administration. The project was developed by DL3 Realty, designed by Moody Nolan and constructed by Powers and Sons, all Black-owned enterprises.
