Freshman Zion Phillips Leads Highland JV to 37-27 Win Over Westville

Thanks to two three-pointers by freshman shooting-guard Zion Phillips, the Highland Trojans Junior Varsity team improved to 1-0 on the season with a 37-27 victory over Westville High School (IN) at home.

Phillips, along with his teammate Donovan Luckey [who scored a team-high 7 points], said he was very happy with the team performance overall.

“I credit my teammates and the coaching staff for our first win of the season,” said Phillips to the Crusader. “But most importantly I give all the credit to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To God Be The Glory! He gets all the credit.”

Phillips said it felt amazing to get the team’s first win of the season on their home floor. Especially after an off season of hardwork, conditioning and studies. Phillips said his three goals for the 2024-25 IHSAA Basketball season is to put God first in everything he does (mainly on the court and in the classroom), exemplify good leadership skills and be a good teammate throughout the season.

The Trojans led Westville 13-7 in the first quarter, 26-14 in the second quarter, 34-19 in the third quarter and 37-27 in the fourth quarter.
