Food Vendors Sought for National Lakeshore’s West Beach

The National Park Service at Indiana Dunes National Lake-shore is seeking self-contained food service vendors to serve park visitors in the West Beach bathhouse through Labor Day, with a minimal Friday through Sunday schedule each week.

Federal regulations require any individuals or groups selling food or other items in a national park to obtain a Commercial Use Authorization permit. This permit will be issued specifically for that location for the 2017 summer season. Completed applications for a permit include a payment of $65 to cover the costs of processing the request. Selected vendors must pay a fee of 3% of their gross receipts minus the $65 application fee at the end of the season. Additionally, vendors selling food must comply with county and Federal health regulations and will have responsibilities in guest generated garbage cleanup.

We are also seeking food trucks or other self-contained food service vendors to serve park visitors at an evening concert by the Northwest Indiana Symphony at West Beach on August 4, 2017. This event is expected to draw anywhere from 1,200 – 2,000 visitors. The same Commercial Use Authorization used to operate through the season at West Beach can also be used to operate at the concert.

All inquiries are welcome. Park staff will select applicants based on an applicant’s ability to meet specific criteria and the desire to provide visitors with a wide variety of offerings. Please call or email Amber Siewin at 219-395-1859 or email [email protected] to find out more and to get an application.
