First Merchants Bank wears blue jeans for Blue “Club” Doors

In mid-May employees of First Merchant’s Bank dressed “casual for a cause.” As part of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana’s Blue Jeans for Blue “Club” Doors, employees paid a small fee to wear Blue Jeans on Friday, May 17.

By wearing Blue Jeans, employees raised $450 which they donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana.

“When you really look at the positive impact Boys & Girls Clubs in our greater Northwest Indiana have on our communities, and the opportunities they provide for kids, our First Merchants employees were all in for this campaign,” remarked Rene Martin, vice president, relationship manager III for First Merchants Bank.

“It is amazing what Clubs do for kids – especially when you look at their annual outcomes. At least 73 percent of Club teens volunteer for their community once a month; 97 percent of Club members report abstaining from cigarette use; and 89 percent of Club members stated that when in a leadership position, they make sure everyone feels important.

“This is what they are learning in Clubs that are positioned in our communities. Our bank is proud to give back to Clubs that give to kids.”
