Dual Street Naming a Success

MORE THAN 200 supporters, family members and friends gathered at 65th and King Drive on Friday, October 7th to witness the street naming for three outstanding men. Balm L. Leavell, Jr. and Joseph H. Jefferson, founders of the Crusader Newspapers (Chicago and Gary) were honored posthumously, however Herman Roberts entrepreneur and business tycoon at age 93 was there to receive his coveted honor. 63rd Street to 65th Street on M.L. King Drive is now known as Balm L. Leavell, Jr. and Joseph H. Jefferson Drive, while 65th Street to 67th Street is now known as Herman Roberts Way. Children and Grandchildren of the honorees were present as the Honorable Willie Cochran, 20th Ward Alderman and sponsor of the street naming, made the presentation.
