Nationally and internationally known as one of the most powerful, motivating and life-changing orators and speakers on the circuit today, Dr. Bernice A. King leaves her audiences speechless and challenges people to RAISE THE STANDARD. Born the youngest daughter of the late Coretta Scott King and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Bernice began her oratorical journey when she spoke in her mother’s stead at the United Nations at 17. Over the years, she has had the occasion to speak in such places throughout the world including South Africa, Germany, and New Zealand to name a few.

Through her work at The King Center, Dr. Bernice A. King has continued to educate youth and adults about the nonviolence principles modeled by her parents. In 2012, she implemented an annual N.O.W. Encounter Summer Camp which has educated youth from Mexico, South Carolina, Michigan, Alabama, and as far away as Cyprus.

In 2013, as she continued her parent’s legacy, she spearheaded the August 28, 2013, “Let Freedom Ring and Call to Action” event to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington and her father’s famous “I Have A Dream” speech. This global event included President Obama, former Presidents Clinton and Carter, Members of Congress, as well as many other international leaders, dignitaries and entertainers.

Dr. Bernice A. King has been featured on numerous television shows, in magazines, as a television commentator and is the recipient of a host of awards and accolades. In April 2008, Dr. King was one of the fifteen delegates selected to meet Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to the United States, and in 2015, she was invited by the White House for Pope Francis’ visit. A noted author, she has to her credit, “Hard Questions, Heart Answers,” a compelling and inspiring book.

While in Gary, Dr. Bernice A. King will receive the Katie Hall Educational Foundation’s highest honor, the Katie Hall Public Service Award for her work in establishing Nonviolence 365, an educational and training initiative on the application of the principles of nonviolence in our modern world. Dr. King is also being recognized for her work with the Be A King Scholarship Program established in honor of Mrs. Coretta Scott King at Spelman College in Atlanta.

Former, U.S. Representative Katie Hall (D-IN) was the author and sponsor of H.R. 3706, the “King Bill,” which was signed into federal law on November 2, 1983, by Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States of America. On several occasions, Dr. Bernice A. King has stated, “I had the honor of working with Rep. Hall during my service as a Congressional Page. After that experience and the subsequent passage of the King Holiday legislation, I am convinced that, as it was with Queen Esther in scripture, Rep. Hall was in Congress ‘for such a time as this’, to spearhead this legislation for passage. In Rep. Hall, I saw characteristics she shared with my mother: strength, uninterrupted resolve and unimpeachable character.”

The cost of the VIP Reception is $50.00 per person and the cost of the Luncheon is $50.00 per person.
