Wasserman-Schultz said she would resign after it was revealed that staff members at the DNC criticized Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) presidential campaign.
Brazile, currently a vice chair at the DNC, will suspend her contract as a CNN contributor to take on the role as DNC chief.
Before the news broke on Sunday that Wasserman-Schultz would step down, Brazile criticized the leaked DNC emails during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week.”
“I went over yesterday to see the Sanders campaign, and I apologized. I think, the allegations, the e-mails, the insensitivity, the stupidity needs to be addressed,” she said.
