One member of the Cubs is about to make World Series history.
Cubs center fielder Dexter Fowler will become the first black Chicago Cub to lead-off in Game 1 of the World Series.
The last time the Cubs made it all the way, was two-years before Jackie Robinson integrated the major leagues.
Fowler was apparently unaware of this fact before sportswriter Rany Jazayerli pointed it out, and tweeted, “Wow…speechless. Thanks for sharing this fact. I will carry it with me.”
Fowler will be the first up to bat in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday in Cleveland. Game time is 7:08 p.m.
