After visiting the future Obama Presidential Center in Woodlawn, out-of-towners won’t have to walk far to find a place to sleep, if a New York developer gets its way.

They’ll be able to stay at the Study at University of Chicago, a 185-room hotel a couple blocks west of the planned Obama library. Developer Hospitality 3 presented its plans for the 15-story hotel last night at meeting in Hyde Park hosted by the University of Chicago.

The New York-based firm would build the hotel at the southwest corner of Dorchester Avenue and 60th street, on the former site of the Hyde Park Day School, according to slides from the meeting.

The hotel is one of several new or proposed developments in the Hyde Park area, including new apartment buildings, stores and hotels. Two out-of-town developers recently broke groundon a 90-story hotel at Dorchester and 53rd Street that’s slated to open next spring.
