Detective Alexander Jones brings home Gold with Team Indiana

Gary Police Department’s own Detective Alexander Jones traveled to Los Angeles, California with Team Indiana to compete in the World Police and Fire Games. Team Indiana swept the series 8-0 to bring home the gold.

Alexander Jones Sr. is a 15 year veteran of the Gary Police Department and currently assigned to the Homicide Unit. Jones is a Gary native who grew up in the Aetna neighborhood on the east side of Gary. He joined the Gary Police Department at 21 years old and has had a prosperous career over the last 15 years. Jones not only has a prosperous law enforcement career but has made it a point to keep involved with the community. He is a member of The Movement, a nonprofit group that focuses on bridging the gap between the community and law enforcement. The organization also hosts an annual back to school give away in the area.

Jones is an active father of five who believes in cultivating young minds and bodies. He has played on several basketball teams beginning at Aetna Elementary and continuing on thro-ugh middle school, high school and into adulthood. He most recently has played with the Gary FOP Lodge 61 and Indiana State Basketball Team.

Jones thanks The Gary Police Department, City of Gary, Indiana State FOP Lodge and Indianapolis FOP Lodge 86 for their support and contributions to making this team possible. Jones hopes to continue league play for at least two more years then focus on coaching for upcoming future teams.
