Death of a King Film Debuts at the Glen Theater

The Glen Theater at 20 West Ridge Road will screen the 2016 Breakout hit, Death of a King – A.D. King – The Untold Story on Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 10 at 4 p.m. The documentary is the true amazing life history of Rev. Alfred Daniel Williams King, the only blood brother of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Vernon G. Smith, Board Chairman for the African American Achievers Youth Corps, Inc. said “Positive Promotions Ltd. TV has done a masterful job archiving and chronicling King’s intimate behind the scenes involvement in the fight for civil rights and equality.” Using more than 100 hours of never before seen footage, and photos from the private King family collection, Positive Promotions Ltd. TV explores Rev. A.D. King’s life and tragic mysterious death. The world is now exposed to this obscure yet important nugget of civil rights history.

To create the documentary, Positive Promotions Ltd. TV interviewed and photographed numerous world leaders including President Barack Obama, Ambassador Andrew Young, Xernona Clayton, Congressman John Lewis, Alveda King, Christine King Farris, Judge Thelton Henderson, Dr. David Satcher, Historian Clayborne Carson, the late great Rev. James Orange, Rev. Vernon King and many others.

Death of a King explains from the inside out, how Rev. A.D. King and his family were a force that created non-violent social change in America. This film reveals how the King family has endured more than its share of tragedy, after providing generations of leadership, love, courage and commitment. All of this past and present civil rights history is set against an original music score.

Death of a King is directed by Gary native, Josetta Shropshire. Shropshire is the Founder, and President of Positive Promotions Ltd. Television and Video Productions. She is an honors graduate of Roosevelt High School, and delighted to come home and share this important film with the great citizens of Gary, Smith said.
