Midtown Fest, a three-day event celebrating the vibrant culture, legacy, and people of Gary, Indiana, will take place from June 19-21, 2025. Hosted by This Is Gary in conjunction with community partners, including the City of Gary’s Mayor’s Office, WLTH Radio, and the Northwest Indiana Corvette Club, this dynamic festival will feature a parade, car show, BBQ cook-off, and a block party showcasing Gary’s rich heritage and diverse community spirit.
Juneteenth weekend event is a tribute to the city’s rich past and promising future—and a prime opportunity for small businesses, artists, and food vendors to showcase their offerings to thousands.
Festival Schedule:
Thursday, June 19 – Juneteenth Kickoff
The Car Take Over Parade & Car Show
Starts at 3 PM, featuring car and bike enthusiasts from across the region, along with community groups, schools, and businesses.
Grand Marshal: Gary’s own Kym Mazelle, First Lady of House Music, who will also perform that evening with special guest Shawn Christopher.
Car Show: Featuring Car and Bike Clubs, Car Enthusiasts, and Friends. Cash prizes and trophies are awarded to Best in Show and more.
Friday, June 20 – The Cook Out & Cook Off
Held at 26th and Broadway near J’s Breakfast Club
Enjoy a festive atmosphere with BBQ, chicken wing, and fish fry competitions, food trucks, a DJ, and family fun. Cash prizes awarded to top competitors!
Saturday, June 21 – Midtown Block Party
Also hosted at 26th and Broadway near J’s Breakfast Club
The day features a community choir showcase, youth performances, and vendor marketplace, NEW THIS YEAR: A Special Memory Walk, inviting attendees to reflect on and celebrate the proud history of Gary—capturing stories, photos, and memorabilia that honor the city’s legacy.
Vendor Registration Details:
Vendor Fee: $50 per day or $125 for all three days
Cook Off Participation (June 20 only): Additional $25
Food Vendors: Must obtain City of Gary permit ($50 for event for seasonal license)
