Danielle Anne Phillip named to BWLA Scholarship Fund Board

Brinks Gilson & Lione, one of the nation’s largest intellectual property law firms, announced that, on June 4, 2018, shareholder Danielle Anne Phillip was sworn in as a member of the Scholarship Fund Board for the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago (BWLA).

BWLA’s scholarship fund provides financial aid to deserving law students twice per year, recognizing the significance of ensuring the success of women of color during their legal education, throughout bar exam study, and in the competitive job market today.

Phillip is a lifetime member of the BWLA and a seasoned litigator with more than 14 years of experience, focused on patent, trademark, and copyright litigation in the federal district and appellate courts. She co-chairs Brinks’ Diversity Committee and is a member of the Advisory Board for The Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession.

“I’m proud to be helping an association that supports Black women attorneys at all stages of our careers,” notes Phillip. “This scholarship is another step towards filling the pipeline with the next generation of future African-American women lawyers.”

For more than 30 years, BWLA has worked to address issues unique to African-American women lawyers, to increase the participation of African-American women and other minorities throughout the legal system and to advance civil rights.
