The President of Chicago State University (CSU), Zaldwaynaka “Z “Scott, was recently named one of Chicago’s Most Powerful Women by Crain’s Chicago Business.
Recognized for her achievements and attainment of powerful positions, Crain’s assessed Scott and 24 other female executives in Chicago by examining their job responsibilities, organization size, networks, civic engagement and career trajectories.
“It is an honor to be recognized”, said Z Scott. “Especially in the company of amazing women who are blazing the trail and some I know personally.”
Scott became president of the Illinois public university on July 1, 2018. As a civic leader and woman of influence, she has played a major role in the city of Chicago for more than 30 years. Prior to taking office at CSU, Scott spent more than 16 years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the northern district of Illinois and as Illinois’ first Executive Inspector General for agencies of the governor and public universities.
“We are proud to have Z Scott as the new president of Chicago State University,” said Dr. Marshall Hatch Sr., Chairman of CSU’s board of trustees. “It is no surprise that she has been recognized. She is known for challenging the status quo, leading with compassion and civic responsibility”.
Scott also served on several high profile boards including Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, Chicago State University and the Chicago Housing Authority which she served as past immediate chair.
